Furbo Review: Dog and Cat Cameras, What Furbo Nanny Costs and What Works Without It
2 pet cameras, $16 to $54. Furbo's camera prices only make sense with the subscription attached. On 10/09/2026 and again on 10/14/2026 the Furbo 360° Dog Camera showed $54 at furbo.com against a $184 list, but the $54 applies only with a yearly Furbo Nanny plan billed at $83.92, so the checkout total is $137.92, plus sales tax that varies by state. Without Nanny, Furbo says the camera keeps live view, two-way audio, treat tossing, and a basic Barking Alert; video history and the AI alerts need the plan. Furbo has no affiliate program we could find, so this page has no store button. The closest camera with one is the Petcube Bites 2 Lite.

Lineup
| Camera | Treats | View | Camera-only price (10/09/2026) | With yearly Nanny at furbo.com | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Furbo 360° Dog Camera | yes, holds 100 pieces | 360° motorized pan, 4x digital zoom | $184 camera only | $54 + $83.92 plan = $137.92 | 1 year; lifetime hardware warranty while a yearly or 2-year Nanny plan stays active |
| Furbo 360° Cat Camera | yes, plus a motorized feather wand | same body as the dog camera | $184 list | $54 with the plan | same |
| Furbo Mini | no | fixed lens, 130°, 4x digital zoom | $89 camera only | $16 + $83.92 plan = $99.92 | same |
All three are 1080p with color night vision and work on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Furbo also sells a newer Furbo Mini 360° at $99 list ($35 with Nanny, furbo.com, 10/09/2026), with 2K video, a 126° lens, and a "Lite Treat Toss" that "Fits up to 10 small treats". It is not in our database yet. Furbo's own product pages do not label a camera-only price: $184 and $89 appear there only as the struck-through "original price" next to the plan-bundled $54 and $16 (checked 10/14/2026). The camera-only figures in this review are what Amazon's "Core Features, No Ongoing Cost" listings showed on 10/09/2026.
On Amazon, Furbo sells each camera in two versions, both "sold by Furbo" on 10/09/2026. The 360° "[Core Features, No Ongoing Cost]" was $184 and works out of the box with "no subscription needed". The 360° "[Paid Plan Required to Activate]" was $72, and the listing is plain: "no features are available before activation". You choose a yearly plan at $6.99/month with the activation fee waived, or a monthly plan with a $29.97 activation fee that includes the first 3 months, then $9.99/month. "If you cancel, core features remain." The Mini comes the same way: $89 core, or $25 with a plan required. Read the bracket in the title before you buy a cheap Furbo. Best Buy and Target don't carry Furbo (a search there returned only Furby toys), and Chewy did not load for us on 10/09/2026 or 10/14/2026 (HTTP 429), so no Chewy price or reviews appear here.
Furbo Nanny and what stops working without it
Furbo calls Nanny "an optional subscription service". Here is the price list from furbo.com/us/pages/furbo-nanny on 10/09/2026, unchanged on 10/14/2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly (first year) | Yearly renewal | Video history |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $9.99/month | $83.92 ($6.99/month average) | $95.90 | 3 days |
| Premium | $12.49/month | $104.92 ($8.74/month average) | $119.90 | 7 days |
There are also 2-year plans at $6.49/month (Standard) and $8.12/month (Premium) for the first two years. Each extra camera on one plan is "billed at $2/month per camera (up to 10 cameras total)". One owner was surprised by that: "then I find out that they charge you extra for each camera you have." (Trustpilot, 06/24/2026).
Without Nanny, Furbo lists live view, two-way audio, treat tossing, and a standard Barking Alert (a Meowing Alert on the cat camera). Its own summary file says that without a plan "cameras provide live view, two-way audio, treat tossing, and basic smart alerts only". Color night vision is hardware and works without the plan. Auto Pet Tracking is the one feature Furbo's own material places on both sides: the product FAQ listed it as free (read 10/09/2026), while furbo.com/llms-full.txt describes it as the camera's rotation feature in the spec block and also puts it first in its Furbo Nanny feature list (10/14/2026). Furbo's help-center article on it did not open to our tools.
With Nanny you add video history (3 or 7 days), Nanny Chat, Daily Summaries, Person, Pet Activity, Emergency, and Home Safety alerts (smoke and CO), Calm My Pet, and Pet ID. There is no cloud history at all without the plan, and Furbo lists no local storage.
The free-camera offer works the other way round. "First time with Furbo? Get a FREE camera + 30 days of Furbo Nanny" sends a refurbished camera; after 30 days it rolls into Standard Yearly at $95.91, and if you cancel during the trial you return the camera with a "$12 return shipping fee". Unreturned cameras "will be locked".
First-year cost
Before sales tax, with free US shipping as Furbo lists it:
| Option | Year 1 | Year 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Furbo 360°, camera only, no plan | $184 | $0 |
| Furbo 360° with Standard Yearly | $137.92 | $95.90 |
| Furbo Mini, camera only, no plan | $89 | $0 |
| Furbo Mini with Standard Yearly | $99.92 | $95.90 |
The bundle is cheaper than the bare camera in year one: $137.92 against $184 for the 360°. By the end of year two the bundle has cost $233.82. If you only want to watch and toss treats, the camera-only price is the cheaper path from the second year on. Treats are your own; Furbo recommends dry, firm treats about 0.4 inches across.
Warranty and returns
Every Furbo has a "1 Year Warranty" covering defects. On yearly and 2-year plans, Furbo says "lifetime hardware warranties as long as you have an active Furbo Nanny subscription". So the long warranty is part of the subscription, not the camera. The comparison page adds "One free replacement of Furbo's lid or cable" for the 360°. Returns are "Free Returns within 30 Days", with no restocking fee listed. Petcube allows 45 days.
Support is through help.furbo.com and a contact form; Furbo publishes no phone hours on the pages I read. A Trustpilot reviewer wrote in August 2026 that Furbo "doesn't have a customer support service number, only an AI chatbot", while several five-star reviews from May and October 2026 describe a replacement camera sent after troubleshooting.
Video, night mode and treat tosser
Furbo lists 1080p, 4x digital zoom, and color night vision for both cameras. It does not print a field of view for the 360° (product page and llms-full.txt checked 10/14/2026): reviewed.com measured "132-degree field of view" (Camryn Rabideau, 10/03/2022), while digitalcameraworld cited 160° (01/11/2023). The Mini is 130° per Furbo. The 360° pans but does not tilt; digitalcameraworld listed "No vertical tilt" as a con.
The 360° holds 100 treats. Furbo's specs recommend "Treats with a diameter of 0.4 inches (1 cm)", and its troubleshooting text says "approx. 0.4–1.0 inch diameter". In practice, reviewed.com reported treats "up to 0.5 inches in diameter" worked with two Golden Retrievers. digitalcameraworld found the "Treat dispenser can be erratic", with jams or bursts and soft treats breaking. Both reviews are from 2022–2023, and firmware and plans have changed since.
The Mini has no treat tosser: Furbo calls it "a smaller version of Furbo 360°, just without treat tossing and rotating 360° view". It mounts on a wall or with an adhesive pad, weighs 4.2 oz per Furbo's spec block, and ships without a power adapter "to reduce electronic waste". Furbo's comparison page prints the 360°'s dimensions for the Mini by mistake, and the product page is the one to trust.
App and privacy
The Furbo app is required for setup and needs iOS 17.0+ or Android 12+ with Bluetooth. It is rated 4.8 from 5,565 ratings on the US App Store (10/14/2026). Under "Data Linked to You", the listing names identifiers, usage data, and crash data for analytics, and contact info (email and phone number) and support content for app functionality. A February 2026 App Store review sums up the most common app complaint: "The only downside is that it frequently disconnects from Wi-Fi." The Google Play rating could not be read.
Recalls and safety notices
No CPSC recalls for Furbo. A search of the CPSC recall database for "Furbo" and for its maker, Tomofun, returned none on 10/14/2026, and a search for "pet camera" returned none on 10/09/2026.
Claimed vs independent
| What | Furbo says | Independent |
|---|---|---|
| Field of view (360°) | not printed | 132° (reviewed.com, 10/03/2022); 160° (digitalcameraworld, 01/11/2023) |
| Treat size | 0.4 in (specs); 0.4–1.0 in (troubleshooting) | up to 0.5 in worked, 2 Golden Retrievers (reviewed.com) |
| Treat tosser | "Treat tossing" | "can be erratic", jams and bursts (digitalcameraworld) |
| Barking Alert | "auto barking detection", adjustable sensitivity | "triggered by any louder-than-average noise" (reviewed.com) |
| Weight (360°) | 1.7 lb (27.2 oz) | about 1.1 kg cited by digitalcameraworld |
What owners say
Not enough independent owner reviews read yet for the Owner Complaint Index: 27 in all, 23 on Furbo's Trustpilot page (3.2 stars from 140, brand-level) and 4 on the App Store, through 10/09/2026. Furbo's own product pages show 734 reviews for the 360° and 445 for the Mini, but only curated four- and five-star reviews are published there, so I don't count them. On Amazon the 360° has 4.3 stars from 9,070 ratings and the Mini 4.2 from 1,445 (10/09/2026). The review texts did not load for us, but Amazon's tags did. For the 360°, "connectivity" is the main negative tag (249 mentions) and "reliability" is mixed (472). For the Mini, "subscription" is the negative tag (32), and Amazon's summary says buyers report it "drops WiFi connection frequently". Chewy and Reddit did not open to our tools.
The leading complaint in what I read is the subscription (6 of 27), then app disconnects, video, and support (2 each):
- "Basically useless without paying monthly, which they jacked up the price to add useless AI features." (Trustpilot, 10/05/2026)
- "it stopped recording for 3 hours and missed a full seizure and massive vomiting episode" (Trustpilot, 06/21/2026)
Praise centers on replacements and the AI alerts for subscribers:
- "I emailed about my broken furbo, received a prompt response, and had a new one sent out" (Trustpilot, 05/06/2026)
- "the AI smart alerts are extremely helpful for giving me real-time updates of what's happening at home" (Trustpilot, 09/16/2026)
Verdict
dog owners who want a treat-tossing camera that still tosses treats, talks, and alerts on barking without a plan, and who may pay for Nanny later. Furbo keeps more features without a subscription than Petcube, whose free tier lists only live video.
you want video history without a monthly bill, or several cameras on one cheap plan ($2/month per extra camera). Also skip if you want a phone line for support.
the Petcube Bites 2 Lite, $99.99 at petcube.com on 10/14/2026 ($149.99 list; $79.99 on Amazon on 10/09/2026). It is a treat-tossing camera with a 160° lens, and its yearly Petcube Care Optimal plan is $59.88 against Furbo's $83.92 first year. Petcube's free tier is thinner, though. For a cheaper camera without treats, the Petcube Cam 360 was $46.99 on 10/14/2026. Both, and the rest of the field, are in the best pet cameras.
Questions people ask
Does Furbo work without a subscription?
Yes. Furbo says Nanny is optional. Without it you keep live view, two-way audio, treat tossing, and a basic Barking Alert. You lose video history, person and activity alerts, smoke and CO alerts, and Daily Summaries. Plan prices are in the Furbo Nanny table above.
How much is Furbo Nanny?
On 10/14/2026, Standard was $9.99/month or $83.92 for the first year on a yearly plan, renewing at $95.90. Premium was $12.49/month or $104.92 for the first year, renewing at $119.90. Each extra camera on one plan adds $2/month. Prices are before sales tax.
Why is the Furbo camera only $54?
Because $54 is the price with a yearly Furbo Nanny plan, billed at $83.92 the same day, for a total of $137.92. The camera on its own was $184 in the product page's store data on 10/09/2026. The bundle is cheaper in year one; from year two you pay the $95.90 renewal or cancel.
What treats work in a Furbo?
Dry, firm treats about 0.4 inches (1 cm) across, per Furbo's specs. Its troubleshooting text allows 0.4–1.0 inch. A 2022 reviewed.com test found treats up to 0.5 inch worked; soft or irregular treats tend to break or jam, per digitalcameraworld. The 360° holds 100 pieces.
Is Furbo better than Petcube?
Without a plan Furbo does more, and with a plan Petcube costs less. Without one, Furbo keeps treat tossing, audio, and barking alerts, while Petcube's free tier lists only live video. With a plan, Petcube Care Optimal is $59.88 a year against Furbo's $83.92 first year. Side by side: best pet cameras.
