Medical disclaimer
TailSpecs is not veterinary advice. We compare pet products from public sources; we do not examine animals, diagnose conditions or recommend treatment. Talk to your veterinarian about your pet's health, food and supplements, and to a certified trainer about containment and training.
Not veterinary advice
Nothing on TailSpecs replaces a visit to a veterinarian. If your pet is sick, injured, not eating, not drinking, or not using the litter box, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital. Changes in litter box habits picked up by an app are information, not a diagnosis.
Food and supplements
When TailSpecs covers food and supplements, we report what the label lists, what a serving costs and what owners report. We do not claim that any product helps with a disease or a symptom. Recalls of pet food, treats and supplements are posted by the FDA, whose Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) oversees animal food, not by the CPSC. An FDA recall covers only the products and lot codes it names, so check the lot code on your package against the notice. No recall on record is not an approval either: pet food does not need FDA approval before it is sold. Talk to your veterinarian before changing your pet's diet or adding a supplement.
DNA tests
A genetic test result is a screening result, not a diagnosis. Discuss any health marker in a DNA report with your veterinarian before acting on it.
Fences, collars and containment
TailSpecs is not a training manual. Containment systems need training; follow the manufacturer's program and consult a certified trainer. When we describe how a collar corrects a dog, we use the manufacturer's words. GPS and cellular coverage depends on your area; check the carrier map before you rely on it.
Safety
We describe safety features in the brand's own words and report recalls from the CPSC. A device on TailSpecs is not certified safe by us, and "no recall found" means our search on the date shown returned nothing.
